Safety & trust

Trading with strangers,
done safely.

TravelViber connects real travelers to exchange real things. Here's how we help you do it with confidence — and what you should do on your end to stay safe. TravelViber introduces you; the exchange itself happens directly between you and the other traveler.

What TravelViber does

Built-in trust signals

Verified profiles

Every account has a confirmed email address, and profiles our team has checked carry a verified badge. Look for the badge and for reviews before you deal with someone.

Ratings & reviews

After an exchange, both sides can review each other. Only people who have actually messaged about a listing can leave a review, so ratings come from real conversations, not drive-by opinions.

Monitored messaging

All conversations happen through TravelViber's in-platform messaging. First messages containing external links are automatically flagged, and any message can be reported directly from the thread.

Meeting up

Tips for a safe handoff

Meet in public, well-lit places

Hotel lobbies, airport terminals, cafes, and reception desks are ideal. Avoid private residences or isolated areas for a first meeting, especially with someone you've only spoken to online.

Prefer daylight hours

If your schedules allow it, arrange the exchange during the day. It's a small thing that makes a real difference for personal safety.

Pay at the handoff, not before

TravelViber doesn't handle payments — you pay the other traveler directly. Pay in person once you've checked the item, and never send a deposit, bank transfer or gift card to someone you haven't met.

Bring someone, or tell someone

Where possible, bring a friend to the meetup or let someone know where you're going and who you're meeting. If you're traveling solo, share your live location with a contact for the duration.

Check the item before you finalize

For physical items, inspect what you're receiving matches the listing before you complete the exchange. For currency, count it together. For bookings and vouchers, confirm validity before you leave.

Trust your instincts

If something feels off — a rushed meeting, a change of location at the last minute, pressure to skip the platform — it's always okay to walk away. No exchange is worth your safety.

Handoff methods

Choose what suits the item

In-person meetup

Best for physical items and cash — follow the meetup tips above.

Hotel lobby drop

Convenient and public — a good default when both sides are staying nearby.

Mail / courier

Use tracked shipping and share the tracking number through TravelViber messaging.

Digital delivery

For services and bookings — confirm the details and access instructions in writing, on-platform.

Red flags to watch for
  • Someone asks for a deposit, a bank transfer or gift cards before you've met and seen the item.
  • A deal that seems too good to be true — an unusually low price, or a rushed sense of urgency to close before you've had time to think.
  • Requests to move the conversation off-platform before a first message has even been exchanged.
  • A profile with no verification, no history, and no reviews asking for an unusual meetup location.

Anything look wrong? You can report a listing, a message, or a review directly from where you see it — every listing page and message thread has a report action that goes straight to our moderation team.
